Trying to get 30 crores, 2G customers, late by 5G

Reliance Jio, the telecom arm of Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is preparing to launch a 5G smartphone from 2500 to 3000 rupees. An official of the company told on the condition of anonymity that it will start with some work from Rs 5000. As the sales increase, the company will try to provide 5G phones in 2500 to 3000  rupee value. The company is eyeing about 300 million customers of the country who are still using 2G service. The price of 5G phones currently available in the country is at least 27000 rs.

Reliance Jio is the first company to offer 4G phones for free in the country. Under this, the company was taking 1500 from the customer which was promised to be refunded. In the RIL annual meeting this year, Chairman Mukesh Ambani promised to free India of 2G. He also spoke about the need to get affordable smartphones to customers using 2G phones.

The company also tied up with US technology giant Google to provide Android-based operating systems for its smartphones. Under this, Google had bought a 7.7 percent stake in Reliance Jio Platforms with an investment of Rs 33,737 crore.

Reliance Jio is also working towards developing its own 5G network equipment. The company has also sought a spectrum from the Department of Telecommunications (DTO) for 5G trials, which the government is considering.

Jio's active customers increased by 25 Lakh

The number of active subscribers of Reliance Jio has increased by 25 lakh in. July and the number of active customers of the company decreased in June.
The number of active subscribers of Bharti Airtel decreased by 4 lakhs in July and. Vodafone Idea lost 38 lakh, active subscribers.
According to the data of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. (TRAI), the total number of telecom subscribers has increased by 3.5 million in July for the first time since February.
